GLP-1 Vial Units
Calculator

Convert your prescribed GLP-1 dose from mg to syringe units for any compounded vial concentration. Works for semaglutide and tirzepatide at any strength.

Common semaglutide doses: 0.25, 0.5, 1.0, 1.7, 2.4 mg

✅ Before you inject — verify these 3 things
1. Your prescribed dose matches what you entered above
2. The concentration on your vial label matches what you entered
3. You are using a U-100 insulin syringe (not U-40 or U-500)

About this calculator

How to convert semaglutide mg to units

Compounded GLP-1 medications are dispensed in vials at a specific concentration in mg/mL. Pre-filled branded pens like Wegovy and Zepbound have fixed doses — this calculator is only for compounded vials that require you to draw your dose manually.

The formula: Units = (Dose in mg ÷ Concentration in mg/mL) × 100

Example: A prescribed dose of 0.5mg from a 2.5mg/mL vial = (0.5 ÷ 2.5) × 100 = 20 units. The same 0.5mg dose from a 5mg/mL vial = (0.5 ÷ 5.0) × 100 = 10 units.

Always check your vial label: The concentration varies by compounding pharmacy. Never assume it matches a previous vial even from the same pharmacy.

Common vial concentrations

Compounded semaglutide: 1 mg/mL, 2.5 mg/mL, 5 mg/mL, 10 mg/mL

Compounded tirzepatide: 15 mg/mL, 17 mg/mL, 20 mg/mL

Use the smallest syringe that holds your full dose — smaller syringes have finer graduation marks for more precise dosing.

Frequently asked questions
Use the formula: Units = (Dose in mg ÷ Concentration in mg/mL) × 100. For example, 0.5mg from a 2.5mg/mL vial = (0.5 ÷ 2.5) × 100 = 20 units. The same 0.5mg dose from a 5mg/mL vial = only 10 units. Always check your specific vial label before calculating.
Compounded semaglutide most commonly comes in 2.5mg/mL and 5mg/mL concentrations, though some pharmacies use 1mg/mL or custom concentrations. Never assume the concentration — always check the label. Using the wrong concentration will result in the wrong dose.
The number of units depends on your vial concentration. From a 2.5mg/mL vial: 10 units. From a 5mg/mL vial: 5 units. From a 1mg/mL vial: 25 units. This calculator converts any dose at any concentration automatically.
Use a U-100 insulin syringe for compounded GLP-1 injections. Common sizes are 0.3mL (30 units), 0.5mL (50 units), and 1mL (100 units). Use the smallest syringe that can hold your full dose — smaller syringes have finer graduation marks for more precise dosing.
